“HOAGY CARMICHAEL”

(1899-1981) Age 82. Born Bloomington Indiana. His parents named him after a circus troupe called the Hoaglands that had stayed at the Carmichael’s House during his mother’s pregnancy. Composer, Pianist, Singer, Actor, Bandleader. Composer of several hundred songs, 50 hit records. Bachelor Degree 1925. Law Degree 1926. NYC 1929-1936 California 1936-1981 – died of heart attack at Eisenhower Medical Center CA. Carmichael wrote 4 of the most recorded American songs of all time. 1971 Inducted into Songwriters Hall of Fame.
